The Benefits of Extracurricular Activities in School

Introduction

A well-rounded co-educational program encourages students to discover new talents, explore and nurture their interests while developing social skills.

There are many different ways of nurturing students, which differ significantly from school to school. Below are some of the most common and important activities.

School CLUBS

Clubs are places where hidden talents are nurtured in a relaxed environment. The aim is to unlock the full potential of students. The Clubs – computer science, eco-health & wellness, integrity, math, quiz, science and theatre – allow students to develop and strengthen their team spirit, cooperation and leadership. Selected students plan activities for the school year. Students share ideas and learn from each other during the club periods. Teachers guide students at every step and experts are invited to share ideas with students. Clubs focus on photography, sculpture, chess and even cookery.

SPORTS

Students have figured out the secret to a healthy mind and a healthy body. There are many ways to achieve this – yoga, stress on mind control with asanas, etc.

Teams of basketball players, football players, hockey players and cricket players start their day an hour early as they get intensive coaching from their PHE teachers. There may be separate facilities for other games such as volleyball, throw ball and table tennis as well as badminton and indoor games like chess and scrabble. The teams perform well in their sport and win laurels in inter-school competitions.

VISUAL ARTS

Many schools offer classes in Art – Drawing, Colouring, Painting and Craft in which students fine-tune their coordination through these activities.
